Lately i’ve been missing Costa Rica a lot more than usual. I find myself at least once a day going through pictures, reliving memories and missing the beautiful faces that made my experience exactly what it was- paradise. So my friends, here are a few of my favorite captured moments from my first two weeks in Costa Rica, completely unedited so you can truly see the magnificent country I called home for four weeks. Our project site Casa Al Revez. This completely sustainable farm is run by a local woman and her husband who we called “Mom” and “Dad” for two weeks.
Nothing will ever beat these sunsets.
The village of Copey, San Jose.
Morning sunshine before the daily rain storm. Relaxing afternoons after work on the farm. Caught my own lunch.
My favorite little boy named Kevin who’s still the background on my phone.
Spent our day off at an adventure park in the jungle. Climbed up and repelled down this 130 foot tree. Casual, right?
Driving on a dirt road with a topless SUV feeling like we’re in a scene of Jurassic Park.
My beautiful Cami with her recycled cat puppet named “Kitty”.
A moment caught where I was crying tears of happiness when Cami presented me with a medal which read,”Thank you for everything. I love you. You are my best friend. Best smile award.”
Relaxing in the river which ran along side Casa Al Revez. A natural Costa Rican cure for fifty-seven mosquito bites (yeah, that many).Went to the local market and found the ingredients to bake chocolate chip cookies in a organically made outdoor oven.
Selfies with Cami are the only selflies I want to take.
Our “Dad” Beto. He loved my thrift store pants so much that I gave them to him. Turns out, he rocks them better than I ever could.
A traditional dance performed by the children of Copey for our group. Let me introduce you to Alberto. Whenever I find a boy who I adore that acts like a little brother, I call them a “puppy”. I have plenty of puppies here in the states but none of them stole my heart like Alberto did. I’ll always remember the hours spent dancing, laughing and life talks with this kid.
Casa Al Revez was more than a service site, it became my home away from home. The ones photographed here are the ones who have inspired me to live as they do. Simply, selflessly and with love. One day, I’ll return to Casa Al Revez. I made that promise to Cami the morning we left and I never go back on a promise.
